About the photographer . . . .
Animals have always been an important part of my life. Since childhood I have shared my life with nine dogs, five cats, three turtles, two mice, one parrot, countless fish and even a pet squirrel. I have always felt a special connection; not only to my own pets, but others that have crossed my path. Growing up with pets is what instilled the great respect and adoration I have for all creatures. It is also the foundation for my instinct and rapport with them. This special connection is an inherit part of who I am and enables me to capture what I see through my camera lens.
After years of applying my creative talents in the corporate sector, I embarked on an entrepreneurial career in consulting and web design. As a necessary business tool, I began working with photography to enhance my portfolio. At the same time, I started volunteering in golden retriever rescue. As my passion for this worthy cause grew so did the opportunity to break out my camera to capture all the antics of these four-legged furballs. As I peered through the lens of my camera I found I was able to capture the soul and spirit of the animal standing before me. Before long this inherent gift became the heart of my work.
In my new vocation, I quickly developed a portfolio of work, including over 80 dog breeds, dozens of cats, several horses, and even a ferret. In 2006, I launched MyPetsOnCanvas.com to combine my photography with the creation of giclee (zhee-klay) prints. This enabled me to capture a pet's personality and create a treasured keepsake.
During this same time, I partnered with the Gourmutt Bakery Company to create opportunities for bringing great pet products to pet-loving people, and thus Pawsitively Perfect was born. Much of my photography is featured on our many product offerings.
Today I share my home with four fabulous goldens, a cocker mix and two finicky felines.
